Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Narrative Shift Pathway Studio ("NSP Studio," "we," "us" or "our") collects when you use Scriptorial, and how we use and protect it. In short: we collect what we need to run your account and keep your writing safe. We don't sell your data, and we don't use advertising trackers.
1. What we collect
| Information | Examples | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Your name, pen name, email address, and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form) | To create your account, sign you in, and let you reset your password |
| Your writing and projects | Manuscripts, chapters, versions, outlines, characters, research, ideas, plans and other content you add | To save your work so you can return to it from any browser |
| AI usage | Which AI feature you used, its length, cost, and your credit balance and history | To run the credit system and show your usage in Settings |
| Subscription status | Whether you are on the free or Pro plan, and your Stripe customer ID | To give Pro members their features and credits |
| Messages to us | Emails you send to support | To answer you |
Payment details: Stripe collects your card details and billing information directly. We never receive or store your full card number.
Technical information: Our hosting and database providers may automatically log basic technical data, such as IP address, browser type and request times, for security and to keep the service running.
2. How AI features use your writing
When you use an AI feature, such as drafting a chapter or running a continuity check, we send the relevant parts of your project (for example your plot notes, character details, chapter summaries and the chapter being worked on) to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate the response. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models. We only send your writing to the AI when you start an AI action.
3. How we use your information
- To provide Scriptorial: your account, your saved projects, AI features and exports.
- To bill your subscription and manage your AI credits.
- To send account emails, such as sign-up confirmation, password resets and billing notices.
- To answer your support requests and keep the service secure.
- To send occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't read your manuscripts except when you ask us to help with a support issue.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run Scriptorial for us, and only what each one needs:
| Provider | What they do | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in and database | supabase.com/privacy |
| Anthropic | Generates AI responses when you use an AI feature | www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy |
| Stripe | Payment processing and subscription billing | stripe.com/privacy |
| Vercel | Hosts the Scriptorial app | vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a business sale or merger (in which case this policy would continue to apply to your data).
5. How your data is protected
- Your projects are private to your account. The database blocks every other account from reading or changing them.
- Passwords are never stored in plain text, and all traffic to Scriptorial is encrypted (HTTPS).
No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
6. Cookies
Scriptorial uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and run the app. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies for payment security and fraud prevention.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and writing for as long as your account is open, including after a Pro subscription ends. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll delete your account and project data within 30 days. We keep billing records only as long as tax and accounting laws require.
8. Your choices and rights
- See, edit and export your writing anytime in the app.
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Ask us to delete your account and all its data.
- Unsubscribe from product update emails using the link in any of them.
To make a request, email hello@nspstudio.net from the email address on your account. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California, or the EU and UK), you may have extra rights under local privacy laws. We'll honor them, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
9. International users
Scriptorial is run from the United States. Our providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. By using Scriptorial, you understand your information may be handled outside your own country, under the protections described here.
10. Children
Scriptorial is not meant for children under 13, and accounts and subscriptions require an adult. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll email you or show a notice in the app.
